Our Story

Why We Built Interlay

Interlay was first conceptualized in Whitehorse, Yukon, in the fall of 2025. The idea grew from conversations our founding team was having with partners, community members, and business leaders about AI.

People wanted to know where their information was going when they used public AI tools and how they could maintain more control over it. They were also thinking about what AI could mean for their existing processes, their staff, and how work gets done.

Most technology is not built with Northern organizations in mind. That helped inspire us to build Interlay here in the North for the organizations and communities around us.

Many Northern teams want to explore AI but need a practical place to start. They want to begin with smaller, focused uses and work with people who understand their organization, capacity, and context.

Interlay was built in response to those conversations and inspired by the people and organizations we serve and live alongside.
